Are we falling for the trap of humanism as did the Levite Priest in Judges 17? What motivates us to share the Gospel? To give the poor sinners a chance to go to heave if they'll just accept Jesus? Or that god might be glorified in the life of a repentant sinner? What motivates us to want the infilling of the power of the Holy Spirit? So that we might be more compelling preachers or that God might be glorified? This famous message was first preached at a Bethany Fellowship Summer conference on July 10,1962 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Author Paris Reidhead (1919-1992) was a missionary, teacher, writer and advocate of economic development in impoverished nations. Starting out as a student pastor in rural Minnesota at the age of eighteen, Reidhead and his wife Marjorie went on to do overseas mission work in the Sudan and Ethiopia. He became a nationally recognized spokesman for missions as well as pastoring the famous Gospel Tabernacle Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in New York City. He founded a service agency devoted to aiding Third World churches ad evangelical agencies in creating job opportunities for destitute families. His efforts took him to mission fields in Africa, Asia and South America.
